Rent

Musical sensation to support work of BPCNW

Crewe-based amateur theatre group, Curtain Call Productions, is staging the sensational rock musical Rent at the Crewe Lyceum on 16-19 May 2012. It is produced and directed by mother and son partnership Gail and Joel Montague, who have decided that the production should also benefit the work of Body Positive Cheshire and North Wales.

Curtain Call Productions is developing a reputation for high-quality shows and for its modern repertoire. Recent productions have included the sell-out Hairspray, Disney's Beauty & The Beast and Footloose, all of which have wowed audiences and won critical acclaim.

For those who haven't seen it, Rent tells the story of a group of young artists and performers living with HIV / AIDS. The story charts a year in their lives, marked by love and loss, tragedy and hope- all set to a powerful rock musical score. Think La Bohème meets We Will Rock You!

Curtain Call always takes the opportunity to support local charities through its shows and this time Gail and Joel selected BPNCW as its chosen charity for Rent.

“Obviously, HIV/AIDS is a big theme in the musical,” explains Joel Montague, himself a West End performer who is currently appearing in the UK tour of Sister Act. “We felt it was important to identify a relevant charity and we were delighted to find BPCNW right on our doorstep in Crewe!” A collection after the show each night will boost the charity's funds and hopefully also help to raise awareness of the continuing issues surrounding HIV/AIDS, particularly among the younger generation.

Tickets for the show cost £8 - £14 and are available from the Crewe Lyceum Box Office on 01270 686 777 or online at www.lyceumtheatre.net  For more information about Curtain Call Productions, visit the website at www.curtaincall-productions.com
