In Cheshire we operate from our base in Crewe, providing a safe comfortable space to meet other people, and access complementary therapies, the internet and our library of information. Our Client Support Workers also regularly attend the Sexual Health/GUM clinics in Chester, Crewe and Warrington.

In North Wales we are currently offering a limited service out of Wrexham, Glan Clwyd and Bangor GUM Clinics. Services are due to expand further across North Wales thanks to our successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund. We will have a centralised base similar to the one we currently have in Crewe in addition to the GUM access to a Client Support Worker.

Counselling

Counselling is a means whereby you can share feelings of a situation or event in order to gain a new perspective. Everyone at some time goes through a stressful period. By sharing this experience with an objective and empathic counsellor in a confidential setting you can find your own way through to increased health and harmony. Everyone has the power for self healing. Counselling harnesses this power.

HIV can create a number of stresses and issues to work through such as post HIV test diagnosis, relationship breakdown, bereavement along with the impact of HIV in people's lives.

We can arrange sessions at a number of venues across the region. Sessions can take place at a range of times to suit you. Appointments can be made through our Client Support Workers who can discuss the service with you further.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a form of foot massage based on the principle that 'reflex' points on the feet correspond to each organ and structure in the body, and are linked to those organs by energy channels.

Reflexologists regard the feet as a mirror of the body, the left foot representing the left side of the body, the right foot the right side. Illness or potential illnesses are indicated by tender areas on the appropriate reflex points on the feet, reflecting the imbalance of the affected organ or organs.

Therapies

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is a treatment with the aim of producing a physical, emotional and mental sense of well-being through inhalation and massage of essential oils.

The essential oils are derived from plants and are chosen for their particular therapeutic qualities, which are stimulating, refreshing or sedative.

Therapies

Body Massage

A massage can help relax the body and mind, it can help the lymphatic system by helping it move quicker and also helps stimulate blood circulation.

There are different techniques used – Swedish Massage, CTM (Connective Tissue Massage), Nero muscular, Shiatsu, Acupressure. One or more of these techniques can be used when you have a treatment.

Therapies

Indian Head Massage

A massage of the back, neck, arms, scalp and face. With IHM you don’t have to get undressed. You just have to sit in a chair and be relaxed.

IHM has physical and psychological benefits e.g. general relaxation of tired muscles, the release of toxins from knotted muscles and the relief of neck and shoulder stiffness. It improves circulation, providing the brain with extra oxygen and helps relieve eye strain, tinitus, jaw ache, sinus congestion and insomnia.

IHM creates a feeling of calmness and tranquillity, relieving anxiety, improving concentration and alertness, and helping to relieve mental tiredness, edginess, depression and anxiety.
