Our training has been developed to meet the challenges of working to deliver effective services that meet the needs of older LGBT+ people.
Training that draws on the real-life experiences of older lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people. Our programmes will give you an understanding of what support for LGBT+ people means, what are the differences and why intersectionality it is important.
Developing Professional Practice
Become competent with appropriate terminology and what to say when confronting prejudice. Our training covers how to ask questions with confidence and sensitivity. Staff will be equipped to tackle issues around sexuality and gender identity with service users and staff and volunteers.
Bespoke, face to face and online training gives service providers the skills to understand what patient-centred care for older LGBT+ people means, promoting an inclusive environment for all.
Lgbt+ and Access Health and Social Care
A strong and robust research base that includes statistics and experiences of LGBT+ people seeking and accessing health and social care, forms the basis for a mandate to change services for the better.
Third sector organisations, and government bodies such as the Care Quality Commission have implemented guidance for the improvement of services for LGBT+ people over 50 and recognises the unique needs of this group.
